The Save the Redwoods League has donated a 523-acre redwood forest to the Inter-Tribal Sinkyone Wilderness Council to permanently protect trees on the Lost Coast in Mendocino, California. The Sinkyone people lived on the land generations ago and regard it as sacred. The forest will again be known by as Tc’ih-Léh-Dûñ, meaning “Fish Run Place.”
“The forest is a living cathedral, not merely a representation of sacredness; the forest is sacredness itself. Those who move within the forest experience sacredness with their entire body, breathe sacredness, open their eyes and witness the burning beauty of sacredness.” - Richard Nelson, The Island Within
Affirmative prayer: Infinite Presence, I am a guardian of our earth-home. I walk mindfully upon the land, feeling the reverence of the earth with each step. In the sacredness of this walk, the landscape whispers, “Everything is holy.” Thank you, God, forever. Amen.
