Kamikatzu became the first town in Japan to make a “zero-waste” pledge, and their  recycling center is a testament to the city’s commitment. The structure is made from 700 donated windows, mushroom containers, recycled glass, and other old materials that have been brought back to life. Here, residents can sort their waste into 45 different categories, bringing its recycling rate to 80 percent.
