SEEKING AND FINDING
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and those that seeketh findeth; and to those that knocketh it shall be opened. - Matthew 7:7-8

TIPS FOR SEARCHING
Using quotation marks and commas in your search - If you're searching for a particular word, including a comma can sometimes give you better results, i.e., search for law, (with a comma), rather than law (no comma). When searching for a phrase, if you'll put quotation marks around the phrase, it will sometimes yield better results, i.e., searching for "one life" will produce different results than searching for one life.

Getting more than one result - If your search yields more than one page of quotes, it will be indicated at the bottom of the quote box. You will see, for example:   Page  1   of  12   >  >|      Clicking on the  >  will show you the next page of quotes. Clicking on the  >|  will take you to the last page.

Keep it simple - There are many ways to search, lots of fields, but keeping it simple is always an option. Just search for a single word in the Topics field. You can do more involved searches as well. See below.

Multiple criteria - You can use multiple criteria in your search. For example, if you want to find the topic, "compassion," and you want it from the Buddhist faith, enter "compassion" in the Topics field, and "Buddhism" in the Faith Tradition field. You can use as many criteria and fields as you want. If you entered "humility" in the Topics field, "yes" in the Humor field, and "Dalai Lama" in the Author field, you'd get a humorous quote about humility from a book by the Dalai Lama.

Narrow your search - Sometimes, you may get too many results. In that case, narrow your search by entering a couple of key words in the Topics field. You could, for example, search for "love" and "children," and you'll get results for that search. Or, another example, search for "love" in Topics, and the author's name in the Author field.

Need something funny? - If you're looking for humor about a particular topic, click "yes" in the Humor field, and enter your topic in the Topics field.

Want a good story or metaphor? - Enter your topic in the Topics field, and enter "yes" in the Story or Metaphor field.

Looking for a scripture about a certain topic? - Enter the topic in the Topics field, and enter "yes" in the Scripture field. When the scripture pops up, scroll down beneath it to find related teachings from other faith traditions.

The library pictured at the top of this page...

The Rijksmuseum Research Library is the oldest public art history research library in the Netherlands. The library, which opened in 1885, was the largest of its kind in the Netherlands, and was designed by Pierre Cuypers, a Dutch architect famous for his neo-gothic style.
