Central Hubs of Life

Trees in a forest are interconnected through thread-like structures of symbiotic fungi which form an underground network. Through the network, the biggest and oldest trees, known as mother trees, share carbon and nutrients with saplings growing in shady areas where there is not enough sunlight. The mother trees can also detect the ill health of other trees and send them nutrients they need to heal. In this way, mother trees act as central hubs, communicating with both young seedlings and other large trees around them to increase their chances of survival.
“The quality of God that gives of itself, nurtures life, and holds everything together is pure love. And the model we've been given for this way of loving is motherhood. The only thing that gives us a chance to love as God loves is the fact that the feminine is within all of us.” – Evan Hodkins, School of Alchemy
Affirmative prayer: Infinite Presence, I honor the depth, trueness, and unconditional love of our mothers. I give thanks for the life-giving, feminine quality in all life. Thank you, God, forever. Amen.
