Fire threats and environmental concerns have prompted some US cities to forego traditional Fourth of July fireworks in favor of spectacular drone light shows. Authorities say that, with fireworks, you have fire danger, smoke, debris, noise that stresses out dogs and people with PTSD. Plus, drones are reusable. Salt Lake City, Aspen, Boulder, Lake Tahoe, La Jolla, and other cities are giving the new approach a try.
“In deciding to use drones instead of fireworks, we asked ourselves, 'Is throwing lit objects up into the sky in the height of the fire season the best thing for us to do?’” - Andy Chapman, Incline Village, Nevada.
Affirmative prayer: Today, on this 4th of July, I commemorate our freedom with a sense of liveliness, wellbeing, and wisdom. I see my fellow US citizens as free in the Spirit, and affirm that our celebrations respect and honor life, and are outbreaks of pure joy. Thank you, God, forever. Amen.
