Connecting with Others on the Path

Major League Baseball instigated a clock for pitchers this year (15 seconds between pitches) in order to speed up the game, but the timer has had some unintended consequences. Used to be, batters and catchers (from opposing teams) would make small talk at home plate. “How’s the family? Can you recommend a good restaurant?” That sort of thing. But now, they have to keep the chatter to a minimum. “You have to figure out a different time to get your conversations in,” said one batter.

Affirmative prayer: I give thanks for my union with others. The connection I feel with my sisters and brothers anchors me in the grand arena of life. Today, I witness the beauty and worth of those who the Divine puts in my path. Thank you, God, forever. Amen.
