Drawing on Inner Resources

In a tribute to her father, Caroline Kennedy recently completed a swim between two islets in the Pacific Islands. During World War II, John F. Kennedy helped save the crew of his PT boat by swimming between the islands, leading them to safety. Caroline recreated a portion of her father’s feat, saying, “It gave me a renewed appreciation of the heroism of my father and his crew.”

Affirmative prayer: Today, I give thanks for the spirit of the heroes who have gone before me and who dwell in my heart. I swim in the waters of their love, strength, and courage, and am buoyed in my life’s journey. Thank you, God, forever. Amen.
