Finding Happiness in Belonging

Indigenous People’s Day, celebrated today, recognizes the history, perseverance, and contributions of Indigenous people across the U.S. It serves as a counter-celebration to Columbus Day. Last year, President Biden issued a proclamation on Indigenous Peoples' Day, saying Indigenous peoples “feed the soul of our Nation."

Affirmative prayer: Infinite Presence, the creator of communities, families, and tribes, I recognize the kinship of us all. I listen to my sisters and brothers, honoring their legacy, their gifts to the world. I affirm that people throughout the land are showing the courage, respect, and wisdom to work together for healing. Our hearts and lives are restored and made whole again. Thank you, God, forever.
