Fulfilling the Spirit of Oneness

Gallaudet University in Washington DC honored Black deaf students and their descendants during a recent graduation ceremony, 70 years after they attended the school. The students were enrolled in the 1950s after a legal battle against segregation, but were never given their diplomas. Carolyn McCaskill, director of the school’s Center for Black Deaf Studies, said, “I wanted them to experience the excitement of walking across the stage and getting their diplomas.”
“A definition for atonement is, 'Making amends to restore a damaged relationship.' It's fitting, then, that the word can also be read as "at-one-ment," reminding us that when we mend a broken relationship, we fulfill the spirit of Oneness that Life holds for us.”
– Scott Awbrey
Affirmative prayer: Today I tap into the vibration of my true Self, a spiritual current that affirms my oneness with the Divine, with others, and with Life itself. I do this in the stillness and in the activity of the day. We are One, blessed by Infinite Love. Thank you, God, forever. Amen.
