The iconic song "New York, New York," written by John Kander and Fred Ebb for the 1977 movie was actually preceded by a first draft of the song that even Kander described as “terrible.” The first version was set to be included in the movie’s sound score until Robert De Niro, who starred in the movie, said it was “lightweight,” and asked the composers to try again. Kander and Ebb wrote the second version – the one we all know – in 45 minutes. Listen to the rejected version here. “We don't have to take rejection as a reflection of our self-worth. If somebody rejects you, you are still worth every bit as much as you were before the rejection. Don't forfeit your sense of worth.” – Melody Beattie, Codependent No More Affirmative prayer: I am one with the Goodness of Life. And I’m thankful that, when I feel less-than or rejected, I can wake up to the Truth that doesn’t sleep and make a brand-new start of it. Thank you, God, forever. Amen. Comments are closed.
