A Friendship Surviving Dark Times

4/13/2022

Afghan Air Force Lt. Col. Hazem Amiry and US Air Force Maj. Tony J. Short struck up a friendship in 2014 when Short was deployed to Afghanistan. When the US pulled out last year, Short pulled off some miracles to get Amiry and his family out of the country. Amiry says he's proud to be from Afghanistan, to call Short a brother, and to be part of a friendship that has survived across oceans and through the darkest of times.
“Each of us is a vital thread in another person's tapestry; our lives are woven together for a reason.” - unknown
Affirmative prayer: “I give thanks for every friend I’ve ever had. I bless these angels, and I prepare my heart to open wide to new friends. Like the divine promise, “I am with you always,” I get to be in beautiful relationships through thick and thin. How good it is to love completely. Thank you, God, forever. Amen.
