The Salton Sea in the Southern California desert could hold the key to powering all of America's electric cars. Underneath the toxic sea are massive deposits of lithium, the metal element used in lithium-ion batteries. The lake is actually the most abundant source of lithium on the planet, with enough to power all domestic electric vehicles for decades to come, energy experts say.
