Helping Someone Heal

A shepherd, Zhu Keming, tending his flock in China’s Gansu province, saved the lives of six runners competing in a 100-kilometer cross-country race. Temperatures had plummeted with freezing sleet and hail pounding the numbed and disoriented runners. Zhu pulled them into a small cave, lit a fire, and massaged their hands and feet.

Affirmative prayer: Infinite Presence, I give thanks for the shepherds of this life. I’m grateful for the guardians and way-showers who have watched over me, kept me safe and on course. Today, I look after others, lift them up, and believe in them. Today, we walk each other home. Thank you, God, forever. Amen.
