![]() Byron Kominek’s family farm near Boulder, Colorado was struggling to turn a profit when he got an idea: what if solar panels and farming could co-exist and even benefit each other? He mounted 3,200 solar panels eight feet above the field and discovered that the shade from the panels helped the plants thrive. They also meant less evaporation of irrigation water, and that the panels remained cool, making them more efficient. Veggies and solar power generating together. Wow! The story gets better.
