a day of loving-kindness

9/11/2019

“When the planes flew into the towers, our response was to escalate the matter, which is the tactic that most of us apply to aggression in our own life. We can, however, come from a vulnerable place. We can stand in the shoes of the aggressor and bring empathy, warmth, loving-kindness, and compassion into the equation.”
– Pema Chodron

Affirmative prayer: On this day of 9-11, I practice loving-kindness, bringing a compassionate, empathetic heart to those with whom I am at odds. I affirm that my first order of being is love, and that my sense of kinship extends to not only friends, but to the people who give me opportunities to grow, to lift my vibration, to forgive. Thank you, God, for every invitation to enlarge my heart, my life. Amen.
